FAQs About Our Organization
Does Psychological Service Dogs, Inc. only serve the Orlando area?
Psychological Service Dogs, Inc. serves the Orlando and Central Florida area, but our exact service area depends on your willingness and ability to travel to our primary service and training areas. Expect to commit to either 1-2 training sessions per week of approximately 1 hour.
Is an evaluation necessary if another mental health professional has already recommended a psychological service dog for me?
We understand our clients often have many psychological evaluations before getting to us-however, for our liability insurance, an evaluation with one of our approved therapists is required.
Are there any dog breeds that Psychological Service Dogs, Inc. does not recommend as service dogs?
In general, we place a higher priority on the size, age, and temperament of a dog than we do on the breed. Many dogs, of many different breeds, have the potential to serve as psychological service dogs. However, much to our dismay, we do not train pit bulls because our insurance won’t cover them. Unfortunately, most homeowners insurance won’t cover them, either.
I think a service dog would benefit me, but someone in my home is afraid of dogs. Can you help?
Yes, we also offer fear desensitization for those, especially children, who are fearful of dogs. Contact us for more information.
What if my service dog and I need further support down the road?
Support from Psychological Services, Inc. doesn’t end when your training program ends. We are with you for life, so please reach out to us if you need further support. Contact us.
What do donations to Psychological Service Dogs, Inc. support?
We are very proud that 92% of monetary donations go directly into rescuing future service dogs, training, vet bills, and placing of service dogs.
